NATO will allow Ukraine to buy weapons, ammunition and military equipment through its centralized procurement agency, Defense News reported in a Reuters story citing the Financial Times.[1]

The arrangement would give Ukraine a more structured framework for using the agency’s procurement expertise, support services and access to the established industrial base, Jacqueline Borsboom told the Financial Times.[1] Borsboom is director of support to operations at the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA).[1]

## Why it matters

Defense News reported, in the Reuters story citing the Financial Times, that the access could help Kyiv obtain defense supplies faster and more cheaply.[1] That account did not say when purchases would begin or who would pay for them.[1]
