US Forces Korea commander Gen. Xavier Brunson urged companies visiting the peninsula to bring lightweight, jam-resistant waveforms with low probability of intercept and detection, Breaking Defense reported.[1] He addressed a largely industry audience at AFCEA TechNet Indo-Pacific in Honolulu on Oct. 27, 2026.[1]

His requests also covered how suppliers’ products connect: open application programming interfaces and edge sensors that can integrate with joint mission networks without vendor lock-in.[1]

Brunson said adversaries practice electronic attack daily, jamming GPS in the West Sea and attempting to blind “our servers, our sensors, and our networks.”[1] He said USFK is fielding resilient high-frequency networks, proliferated low-Earth orbit satellite communications and terrestrial mesh networks to maintain command and control when primary communications links are disrupted.[1]

“If your capability requires pristine satellite communications, infinite bandwidth, and uninterrupted fiber optic backbone to function, it will not survive 48 hours on the peninsula,” Brunson said.[1]

He pointed to the Army’s “How the Army Fights,” a strategic document outlining its operational guidance, as an example of how companies can align their products with the service’s needs.[1]

## Why it matters

Breaking Defense reported that Brunson wants suppliers to design systems for use with partner nations from the first line of code, rather than adding partner interfaces after signing a contract.[1] He also called for a shift from network-centric perimeters to data-centric security.[1]
