BWX Technologies reported third-quarter 2026 results on Nov. 2.[1] Its Government Operations segment widened its GAAP operating margin to 19.2% from 15.8% a year earlier.[1] GAAP operating income rose 26% to $122.6 million.[1]

Profit grew faster than sales: segment revenue increased 4% to $639.1 million.[1] BWXT attributed the revenue gain to growth in special materials and advanced nuclear, partly offset by lower naval propulsion volume.[1]

Government Operations bookings fell to $323.0 million in the quarter from $2,086.1 million a year earlier.[1] The year-ago quarter’s bookings were about 3.4 times that quarter’s revenue.[1] The decline also extended across the first nine months, with bookings down year over year to $2,758.3 million.[1]

## Why it matters

Government Operations’ quarterly bookings amounted to about half of revenue.[1] Its backlog nevertheless rose 9.8% from a year earlier to $6,481.8 million at quarter-end.[1]
