# Denmark signs for Blocker naval mines through Finland-led procurement
Germany, Lithuania and Norway also take part in the initial joint procurement; Defense News reports Lithuania has decided to proceed with its own contract.

Denmark has signed an agreement to acquire Forcit's Finnish Blocker naval mine system through the Naval Mines Cooperation (NMC), led by Finland.[1] The Danish defense ministry's Materiel and Procurement Agency (FMI) announced the agreement on Nov. 5.[1]
Denmark, Finland, Germany, Lithuania and Norway participate in the initial joint procurement of Blocker.[1] Defense News reports that Lithuania decided to proceed with its own contract a day before Denmark, also under the NMC.[2]
Defense News reports that Finland's military signed a contract with Forcit Defence in June on behalf of the five participating countries.[2] The Finnish government put that contract's value at hundreds of millions of euros, the outlet reports.[2] Denmark's announcement gives no price, quantity or delivery schedule for its acquisition.[1]
Defense News reports that Finland and Estonia already operate the mines, with Estonia having bought them in 2021.[2] Germany and Norway have yet to announce contracts publicly, the outlet reports.[2]
## Why it matters
Denmark's purchase is part of a cooperation meant to support joint procurement and strengthen cooperation on logistics, training, exercises and the systems' lifespan.[1] The NMC began in 2024 and developed through a framework agreement in 2025, with Finland leading both the cooperation and the joint procurement.[1]
