The Department of War is seeking industry sources for a biological warfare agent identification capability for the Navy’s Enhanced Maritime Biological Detection (EMBD) system.[1] The request for information was posted Nov. 6, with responses due at noon Eastern on Dec. 7.[1]

## Why it matters

The public notice summary describes the EMBD Identification Subsystem as a backward-compatible replacement for the Joint Biological Point Detection System Identifier.[1] It would automatically provide confirmatory identification of biological warfare agents in liquid samples.[1] The summary describes samples gathered externally by the EMBD Collector and routed to the subsystem through the EMBD Fluid Transfer System.[1]
