Special Operations Command Korea plans sole-source buy of Neros' Archer Strike drones

The intended firm-fixed-price contract would pair eight 10-inch drones with Crossbow ground control kits and Terminus-LV trainers and casings.

Special Operations Command Korea intends to award Neros Technologies a sole-source contract for Archer Strike drones and the equipment around them.1 The presolicitation notice, posted Wednesday by an office under U.S. Special Operations Command, describes a commercial buy under FAR 12 with Pyeongtaek, South Korea, as the place of performance.1–2 Neros says Archer Strike integrates directly with Kraken Kinetics' Terminus strike payloads; the Terminus-LV lines in this notice are trainers and casings.1, 5

The planned expansion reaches beyond Neros’ own drones: OSC expects the capacity to supply components to other U.S. and allied drone manufacturers as well as support Neros’ internal production. Those components are intended to comply with the National Defense Authorization Act.1

OSC financing, alongside additional private capital, would support expanded domestic manufacturing of drone platforms, ground control systems and components including motors, radios, flight electronics, sensors and batteries. The company’s Torrance, California facility is intended to help bring production of complete systems and subcomponents, including propulsion motors, flight stacks, radios and thermal sensors, into the United States.1

Neros must satisfy financial, legal, technical, investment, due diligence and other requirements before financial close. The announcement does not disclose the loan term, interest rate, amount of additional private capital or any production or capacity figures.1

OSC intends the expansion to reduce reliance on foreign-made components by supporting domestic manufacturing of complete drone systems and their subcomponents.1

The agreement pairs Sparkz’s battery manufacturing with Global Ordnance’s defense sales and distribution network. The companies say the batteries will use a fully U.S. supply chain, including all base materials and assembly. They plan packs configurable to the power output and operational requirements of different unmanned systems.1

The companies expect batteries to be available in early 2027, with full manufacturing capacity expected to start in the second quarter of 2027.1

Sparkz markets U.S.-made lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage systems for the grid.2 Global Ordnance supplies ammunition, energetics and unmanned systems to the U.S. government and allied nations. The companies did not name a customer, purchase commitment or cell chemistry for the drone packs.1

The companies tie the agreement to tighter drone-component sourcing requirements under the Drone Dominance Program, describing the framework’s ultimate goal as a wholly domestic small-drone supply chain.1
