Startup Destinus says Ruta cruise missile output nears 300 a month, Reuters reports
Destinus' CEO told Reuters that European customers still need to build military units and logistics capabilities to operate large numbers of systems.
Destinus says monthly production of its Ruta cruise missile has reached nearly 300 units, according to Defense News, which published an Oct. 29 Reuters story. The Dutch-headquartered defense startup told Reuters it has built more than 1,750 of the missiles in Europe. The story published by Defense News does not say who bought the missiles or how many have been delivered.1

Chief Executive Mikhail Kokorich told Reuters that Europe is moving from a production challenge to a military integration challenge as missile inventories expand.1
Kokorich said Destinus already produces turbojet engines in the roughly 1.5-kilonewton thrust class in series, supplying its own missiles and other manufacturers. He expects the company to be able to meet demand across Europe, including Ukraine, for those engines from next year.1
Destinus also told Reuters it has begun production of the larger Ruta Block 2. The missile is designed to carry a 250-kg payload and travel more than 700 km. Unlike Block 1, the new version is designed to be stored, transported and launched from the same container.1
European customers still need to build military units and logistics capabilities to operate large numbers of systems, Kokorich told Reuters, according to Defense News. He said future missile arsenals would need supporting storage, transport, maintenance and targeting infrastructure.1
